I have been researching "proof activities" in the mathematics classroom of high schools.
I am interested in how the activity of "proving" functions in mathematics classroom from elementary school to high school. I would like to explore the process by which "language formulas" found in arithmetic classes and "formulas" and "theorems" found in mathematics classes are created, trusted, and used to solve problems by students. I regard this series of processes as "proof activities" for understanding mathematics, and I would like to clarify their characteristics. In particular, we believe that by systematically incorporating such activities into the teaching of the mathematics classroom in high schools, students will be able to independently realize "mathematical inquiry."
